IN THE ever-changing landscape of education, digital classrooms have become a cornerstone. However, this transformation has brought a new set of challenges that educators grapple with daily, including navigating new technology and catering to rapidly evolving expectations and learning styles.
“Not all educators have the same experience and background in technology,” says Phil Gaut, senior director and head of division, Display and Brand Memory, at Samsung Australia. “It can also be tricky to meet the diverse needs of students at any time. Technology and the hybrid classroom adds an additional level of planning and consideration for teachers in this regard.”
This disparity in digital literacy, as well as the inherent time constraints of teaching, can make or break the effective integration of technology in education. To navigate this,

“It is key that every educator feels confident with the tech in their classroom. Technology in classrooms is evolving rapidly, and decision-makers must centre the needs of students and teachers in their technology investments”
Phil Gaut,
Samsung Australia
Samsung says partnering with the right experts is vital – and ultimately, the key to successful integration is to look for a ‘full solution’, not just a single product.
“It is key that every educator feels confident with the tech in their classroom,” Gaut explains. “Technology in classrooms is evolving rapidly, and decision-makers must centre the needs of students and teachers in their technology investments.”
In an ideal classroom, students are free to learn at their own pace, using the tools that best suit their learning style. Technology is increasingly bringing us closer to this goal, and Samsung has been leading the way with its suite of Interactive Display products.
These high-tech displays enable personalised learning in a way that classrooms haven’t seen before. They allow teachers to design interactive lessons that let students work at their own pace, and Samsung’s use of video, image and audio means information can be presented in diverse formats.
“Students can work together to solve problems and explore concepts,” Gaut says. “This peer-to-peer learning drives communication and critical thinking skills.”
Samsung’s approach has become particularly vital in the age of hybrid learning. Any teacher working throughout the lockdowns of 2020–21 will tell you that engaging students remotely is far more difficult, so when teachers and students are separated, technology must fill the gap.
Samsung’s technology has been specifically designed to create ‘light bulb’ learning moments, and its interactive displays have redefined what ‘interactive’ looks like. Its pen and annotation feature allows ideas to be brought to life with creativity and simplicity, while its LED displays ensure that the school hall can be its social hub. These displays can act as a sports board, or as tools for showing educational content, featuring presentations, and more.
Gaut notes that while investing in such technology is a significant undertaking, it promises considerable returns.
“Multimodal and remote learning means that more students than ever can be reached,” he points out. “That’s exactly what we saw in St Joseph’s College.”
Looking towards the future, we can expect technology in classrooms to continue evolving. Digital tools are increasingly becoming native to many classrooms, and both students and educators are discovering the benefits of tech for accessibility. However, Samsung highlights that it’s important to be very deliberate about your strategy for education tech, and to focus on solutions that address diverse student needs and support remote access to education.
“We believe that the key to education is looking at the entire education environment,” Gaut concludes.
“Educators need solutions that provide simplicity, flexibility and speed to stay ahead of unpredictable circumstances. Samsung offers a suite of products that work together throughout your school. From interactive displays in classrooms, to outdoor displays for wayfinding, to tablets for students – all of this meets the needs of educators, while also preparing students for a digitally driven world.”

“[St Joseph’s College] was thrilled to find that students initiated the use of these [interactive] displays for peer-to-peer learning, tutoring each other and sharing knowledge. Students were really engaging with this tech”
Phil Gaut,
Samsung Australia
Teachers also benefit from Samsung’s business monitors – a top choice for creating an uncluttered, single-screen set-up for faculty and staff. In the classroom, teachers can hold student attention and improve engagement with the Samsung Flip Interactive Display, an easy-to-use presentation tool that changes slides with a single tap.
Gaut highlights the importance of rich, uninterrupted learning experiences – no matter where students are.
“For students, multimodal and remote learning means that more students than ever can be reached,” he explains.
“Virtual classrooms and video conferencing tools allow students to continue their studies from anywhere, ensuring uninterrupted learning experiences. Interactive displays also support active learning, helpful to drive student engagement. These factors are key to achieving learning outcomes.”
For a concrete example of how advanced display technology can revolutionise the learning experience, educators need look no further than St Joseph’s College. St Joseph’s implemented Samsung’s Flip Interactive Displays in 2023, installing them in classrooms, study rooms and throughout the school. The results for student engagement became clear very quickly as teachers watched their students shift from passive to active learning.
“The college was thrilled to find that students initiated the use of these displays for peer-to-peer learning, tutoring each other and sharing knowledge,” Gaut says. “Students were really engaging with this tech, and it made a huge difference.”
