D2L is a global learning innovation company dedicated to helping organisations reshape the future of education and work. It leads the way into the era of personalised learning, driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to high-quality education, regardless of age, ability or location.
The company collaborates with leaders, policymakers and industry innovators worldwide to advance learning. Its team partners with each customer to address their learners’ needs, improve outcomes and provide support throughout their journey.
In just over 25 years, D2L’s team has grown to include more than 1,000 employees worldwide. The company is headquartered in Kitchener, Ontario, with satellite offices across the globe. Its technology is used by customers in K-12, higher education, associations and the corporate sector.
The company was founded by John Baker, who, as a third-year engineering student, sought to identify the most impactful problem he could solve. Inspired by his family of educators and his own experiences, Baker was struck by the idea that learning is the foundation for progress. He recognised that efforts in this area would have a ripple effect across generations, communities, companies and cultures. With this vision, Baker established D2L to help millions, and potentially billions, of learners. More than 20 years later, D2L continues to thrive, committed to providing the best possible learning opportunities and transforming the way the world learns.
