Mark Gannon is a passionate educator and school leader who is deeply committed to inquiry-based learning, student wellbeing and teacher development. His journey into education began with volunteer work, where he witnessed firsthand the transformative power of learning in shaping young lives. With over a decade of experience in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools, Gannon currently serves as Assistant Head of Junior School and IB primary years program (PYP) Coordinator at St Gregory’s College. In these roles, he provides strategic leadership across curriculum development, pastoral care, administration and professional learning to ensure the highest standards of education.
Before joining St Gregory’s College, Gannon held several leadership positions at Trinity Grammar Preparatory School, including primary stage curriculum leader, pastoral leader, and housemaster. His dedication to teaching and leadership earned him the prestigious 2018 Teachers’ Guild of NSW Early Career Educator Award.
Gannon is a passionate advocate for global education, having participated in teaching immersion programs in Kenya, Fiji and Ecuador, which deepened his understanding of different educational systems and cultures. He has also led student immersion trips to Timor-Leste and China, promoting intercultural understanding and experiential learning. Beyond the classroom, he is dedicated to mentoring teachers, refining curriculum frameworks and championing student-driven, inquiry-based learning.
With a Master of Educational Leadership and Management (with Distinction) and postgraduate studies in Religious Education, Gannon’s commitment to lifelong learning drives his vision of leading transformative education that empowers students, supports staff and strengthens school communities.
