St Andrew’s Cathedral School is a unique institution that has stood at the heart of Sydney for 140 years. As the city’s quintessential urban school, it mirrors the diversity, dynamism and forward-thinking spirit of the CBD in which it is located.
Rooted in Christian values, St Andrew’s holds firm beliefs about the inherent worth of every child. It teaches that each student is precious, loved by God and uniquely gifted with a purpose. This foundation shapes not only the academic journey but also the character and convictions of its students, preparing them to grow in wisdom and hope. Through this holistic approach, students are equipped to apply their knowledge and skills in ways that contribute positively to society.
The school prides itself on having expert educators who are not only passionate about their respective fields but also deeply committed to the relational aspect of teaching. These teachers invest in the personal development of each student, both inside and outside the classroom. They thrive in an environment that encourages continual growth, benefiting from a progressive professional learning program.
A standout feature of St Andrew’s is Gawura School, an innovative First Nations-led education program within the mainstream system. Recognised as a “lighthouse program” in Indigenous education, Gawura has earned national acclaim for its exceptional outcomes, exemplifying the school’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence.
