“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”

Ameya Nagarkar is a kind and highly motivated educator at Fortitude Valley State Secondary College (FVSSC). He is passionate about mathematics and physics and inspires students to be the best possible versions of themselves through these subjects.
Upon completing a degree in mechanical engineering, Nagarkar was recruited by Teach For Australia and started his teaching career at Atwell College. He was identified as a candidate because of his demonstrated leadership, academic and tutoring skills.
Through his experiences, he became aware of the need to develop compassionate, optimistic and agile learners who are ready for an unfamiliar future, especially in the age of emergent technologies and advanced artificial intelligence.
Nagarkar moved to Queensland in 2021 and was excited by the FVSSC because of its unique vision to “create a community of agile learners who are bold, resilient and kind”. He contributes to this vision every day and has taken on a project to enhance the college’s daily mindfulness sessions through creative collaborations with staff and students.
Nagarkar was instrumental in FVSSC’s success in hosting its first robotics competition, FIRST Lego League Challenge, which provided students at FVSSC and students from local schools an opportunity to celebrate learning and resilience through robotics.
