Profile
Belinda Knowles has over 15 years of experience in the early childhood education sector and is currently a pre-prep teacher at St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School. Passionate about nurturing children’s growth, development and emotional wellbeing, she studied for a master’s degree in play therapy. As a qualified play therapist, she brings a rare clinical skill set to her work as an early childhood educator, embedding therapeutic, child-centred play practices directly into everyday learning experiences in her classroom.
Knowles’s influence extends beyond the classroom through her participation in The Apiary Fellowship (2025), her work as a lecturer at Victoria University and her recent contributions to the broader professional community – participating in the Brain Building in the Early Years ECHO with Children’s Health Queensland, engaging with the Value of 0–3 Years initiative with The Front Project and playing a key role in developing a kindy-based school network within the local community. Additionally, she established The Healing Hive to provide child-centred play therapy for children aged 3–12 years.
Knowles’ dual perspective – working both in a school and in a clinical setting – allows her to translate evidence-based therapeutic approaches into practical classroom strategies and, conversely, to bring classroom realities back into her therapeutic work with families.
