Anna Owen is the principal of Sunshine Coast Grammar School, bringing extensive academic and leadership experience to her role. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Queensland and a Master of Science with Distinction, and she has completed advanced management training at Stanford University as well as the AICD Company Director’s course. Currently, she is pursuing her MBA to further enhance her expertise.
Anna’s governance experience spans several boards and executive committees, including Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ), the ISQ Finance and Risk Committee, the Buderim Foundation and the Australian Independent Schools ACT Board. She has also contributed to the Gabriel Foundation and the ACT Australian Council of Educational Leaders (ACEL) Executive Committee and is the elected chair of the Sunshine Coast Biosphere Community Advisory Group.
Her career highlights include senior executive roles such as principal and CEO of Canberra Girls Grammar School and deputy principal at Brisbane Girls Grammar School. Anna is widely recognised for her innovative leadership and commitment to educational excellence. She was named Professional Business Woman of the Year in 2023 by the Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network and featured on The Educator’s Hot List in 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025 for her work integrating the UN Sustainable Development Goals into the curriculum.
Anna’s international experience includes representing Australia at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris and serving as a member of the UN Principals Network. Her dedication and vision continue to shape the future of Sunshine Coast Grammar School and the wider educational community.
