Tim Lloyd and his team have successfully transformed Plumpton High School over the past 11 years into a school recognised for its emphasis on fostering student leadership, agency and voice, along with innovation and technology. The school is dedicated to enhancing intellectual capacity and nurturing strong relationships with corporate business partners through its unique Futures Framework.
In 2023 and 2025, Lloyd was recognised as one of Australia’s Most Influential Educators by The Educator. Plumpton High School also earned the title of Australian Champions for the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Framework Whole Year Model in 2023 and continues to lead the country in successfully implementing this framework in educational settings.
Lloyd’s leadership as a principal was honoured at the 2019 Australian Education Awards, where he received the Australian Government School Principal of the Year Award. Additionally, Plumpton High School was recognised by The Educator as one of Australia’s most innovative schools over three years: 2019, 2020 and 2024. The school is currently acknowledged as a leader in the application of generative artificial intelligence, utilising the NSW EduChat Gen AI tool to enhance high-quality teaching and learning. Notably, in 2021, Plumpton High School was one of only 100 schools worldwide to present at T4 World Education Week, an initiative aimed at providing a platform for schools to share their success stories while advocating for quality education. In 2022, the school was awarded the title of Australian Computer Science School of the Year.
In his prior role as director of strategic resourcing with the NSW Department of Education, Lloyd contributed to the leadership, development and implementation of school funding reform through the Local Schools, Local Decisions reform, which empowered schools to determine the best allocation of funding to meet their students’ needs. For this work, he received a Commendation Prime Minister’s Award for “Promoting Excellence and Professionalism in Public Administration” in 2018. He frequently presents on change processes in schools and served on the NSW Secondary Principals Council Executive for three years.
As a national coach for Gymnastics Australia, Lloyd coached an Australian world champion and world cup gold medallist in 1997.
