“For me, success is not about personal accolades but what we can achieve together”
Adrian Camm,
Westbourne Grammar School
Dr Adrian Camm, Principal and Managing Director of Westbourne Grammar School, is a transformative figure in contemporary education, distinguished not only by accolades but also by a visionary mindset and a relentless drive to elevate teaching and learning systems.
From beginning as a permission-to-teach educator in a low socioeconomic setting to becoming the principal architect behind Westbourne Grammar’s rise in innovation and excellence, Dr Camm’s journey is one of purposeful ambition and impactful leadership.
“Whether it’s pioneering AI initiatives, redefining leadership through distributed models, contributing to system-wide change or mentoring the next generation of teachers and leaders, every step has been intentional,” he says.
Originally set on a career in cryptography and the Air Force, his true calling emerged through the discovery of education’s transformative power. This epiphany led him to devote his career to shaping not only student outcomes but entire learning ecosystems.
He operates as a chief catalyst – viewing his role through the lens of stewardship, culture and collective potential. It’s a role he carries with humility, courage and a forward-facing mindset rooted in innovation and inclusion, with Westbourne Grammar having over 70 different nationalities and 35 faith backgrounds.
Under Dr Camm’s stewardship, Westbourne Grammar has launched AI and Drone Academies, redefined chaplaincy, constructed a $51 million middle school, plus the commencement of a new Music and Performing Arts precinct. This brave leadership has reimagined what a school can be. Of particular note are the school’s AI Avatars, which bridge communication gaps across 100 languages, embodying his belief in technology as a tool for human connection.
These efforts have coincided with record enrolments, the introduction of sector-leading staff wellbeing initiatives, and planning for a new 1,500-student campus, each a testament to the vision he and his team have implemented.

Yet, Dr Camm is most proud of the culture he has helped cultivate. “For me, success is not about personal accolades but what we can achieve together,” he says. “We have created an environment in which our staff thrive, our students excel and the community is our partner.”
Central to Dr Camm’s influence is his ability to distil complexity into clarity. A strategic thinker and gifted storyteller, he mobilises communities through narratives that resonate with both heart and mind. His belief in distributed leadership ensures that expertise and agency are shared, not siloed, empowering educators and students alike to become leaders.
His groundbreaking work in integrating innovation with humanity positions students not as passive recipients but as ethical, critical and creative thinkers poised to shape the future. Through visionary planning and a devotion to equity and excellence, he has created not just a successful school but a movement within education.
Looking forward, Dr Camm remains committed to mentoring future leaders, scaling impact and continuing to challenge the boundaries of what’s possible. As he puts it, “Leadership is an active verb: to mobilise. My role has been to inspire, guide and create the conditions for others to excel.”
And that is precisely what he continues to do, while creating an enduring legacy in education.
