“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”

Pat Murphy is the president of the Australian Government Primary Principals Association (AGPPA), which represents over 1.6 million students and 7,200 school leaders in 5,300 government primary schools across Australia.
Pat was elected president by the AGPPA National Council in 2022 and is also the president of the Queensland Association of State School Principals (QASSP), having been elected in late 2021.
Pat has been an educator for over 34 years, the last 29 as a school leader. He is passionate about ensuring schools offer a well-rounded education that engages students. He has a strong belief that government primary schools shape the educational foundation of Australia.
Since starting in the president’s role, Pat’s focus has been to continue the great work of AGPPA by providing strong strategic leadership in order to advance government primary schools across the nation. He identified the need for AGPPA colleagues to reconnect after two years of online meetings in order to concentrate on enhancing the focus of leading government primary schools. He saw the need to link with primary colleagues in the Catholic and independent sectors if they were to enhance the educational narrative in Australia.
Pat recognises that his role is to ensure that the voice of the students and school leaders is heard and acted on.
