Michael Smith is a nationally and internationally award-winning senior leader in the fields of education and human resources. He is an award-winning educator and senior staffing leader specialising in staff professional learning and development programs, recruitment and onboarding programs, and reward and recognition programs.
Notably, Smith has demonstrated a proven track record in leading, inspiring, engaging and retaining millennials and Gen Z members of the workforce, with a 95% retention rate within the education profession of graduate teachers against a national retention rate of 60% for the first five years in the profession. Due to his leadership in HR, his work has been recognised as the best in the education sector, with Marsden State High School having won Best Professional Learning Program at the Australian Education Awards for three successive years (2020–22).
His industry-leading work has also seen Marsden State High School win the Australian HR Awards for Best Graduate Development Program in 2021 and Best Learning and Development Program in 2022.
