“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”

Daniel Walker is committed to Canterbury College being known as a school that inspires ‘all-rounded’ world-ready success in its students. Although he sees academic achievement as the top priority, student engagement across sports, music, the arts, business, technology, ‘thought sports’, community service and leadership is the overarching goal.
"Busy children are happy children, making new friends and developing fresh skills, while trying all kinds of different mental, physical, social, emotional and spiritual activities each term. Sure, it’s uncomfortable getting out of your ‘comfort zone’ to try new things with peers you don’t know.
"But that participation fosters resilience and instills the kind of mental and physical health that develops leaders under our school motto: The better prepared, the stronger," he says.
Positioning the College at the heart of the local community is also central to Walker's ethos and priorities.
Walker’s previous pastoral, academic, co-curricular and HR leadership roles have engendered in him a clear idea of what makes successful schools tick. He is not afraid to be innovative but also understands the importance of tradition.
Walker has taught Humanities subjects during his 25-year career at independent and state schools. As Principal, he still teaches a weekly class in term, normally modern history, legal studies or economics.
