Steven Middleton brings nearly three decades of distinguished leadership in elite independent schools to his new role as Principal and CEO of Pittwater House. Appointed after a rigorous national search, he is recognised for his commitment to academic excellence, relational leadership and innovative educational practice. Most recently, he served as Associate Principal at St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar in Melbourne, where he advanced academic outcomes, strengthened school culture and championed a collaborative leadership style that aligns closely with Pittwater House’s unique parallel learning model.
Middleton holds a Doctorate of Education from the University of Melbourne and is widely respected for his expertise in evidence-based pedagogy, leadership partnerships and strategic change. His career includes significant roles at leading Australian institutions such as Carey Baptist Grammar School, Knox Grammar School and The King’s School, demonstrating a broad and accomplished track record in independent schooling.
Beginning formally in Term 1, 2026 – and engaging with the school community throughout Terms 3 and 4 of 2025 – Middleton is committed to leading Pittwater House into its next chapter. He is passionate about nurturing excellence in every student, deepening community engagement and building on the school’s heritage and innovative learning culture. His relational approach to leadership ensures each student is “known, supported and challenged to thrive.”
