Kara Baxter is an inspiring and forward-thinking educational leader, currently serving as Deputy Principal- Learning and Teaching at Strathcona Girls Grammar and as a board member for ACEL Victoria. Guided by the conviction that “education should empower learners to shape the world, not just navigate it,” she leads with vision, innovation and genuine relational trust.
Throughout her career, Kara has redefined what professional growth looks like for educators, shaping whole-school visions for teaching and learning. She developed Strathcona’s Unstoppable eXperts professional learning model, which champions collaboration, leadership, exploration and continuous growth. This innovative approach not only builds teacher confidence and expertise but also ensures that professional learning directly enhances student outcomes. She firmly believes that “great learning for students starts with great learning for staff.”
Kara is also known for introducing dynamic learning experiences that encourage students to collaborate across year levels and disciplines, empowering them to explore big ideas, discover their strengths and take ownership of their learning. She is passionate about creating learning environments that are connected and challenging and give students a voice in shaping their futures.
In 2025, Kara is leading the launch of the Coral and AI Lab – a space dedicated to design futures, ethical AI and purposeful creativity. Her leadership is defined by a commitment to curiosity, challenge and innovation, ensuring every learner is inspired to thrive.
