James McLauchlan has been a valued member of the St Laurence’s College community for nearly 20 years. He began his professional journey as a builder before making the leap to teaching in 2006 – a move inspired by his passion for helping young people discover their purpose through hands-on learning.
Drawing on his strong practical background, McLauchlan has taught across the Technologies Faculty and has been instrumental in shaping the college’s Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs. As head of VET and registered training organisation (RTO) manager, he oversees the delivery of nationally recognised qualifications, equipping students with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the real world.
McLauchlan is known for his commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. He works hard to ensure every course stays up to date with industry standards and meets the evolving needs of the workforce. Through his leadership, he empowers students to turn their interests into meaningful careers and helps set them up for lifelong success.
