“Being a principal is a great honour, but it is also an all-encompassing role”
Chrissy Gamble, Kingswood College
Chrissy Gamble, principal of Kingswood College, is renowned across the Australian education sector for her strategic and courageous leadership.
From her earliest memories, she was drawn to teaching, driven by a deep passion for education’s transformative power. The driving force is a dedication to her students. She says, “They are my constant motivation. I strive to be my best so that they can be theirs. Every decision, every effort, every long day – it all comes back to them.”
Gamble’s three-decade-long career has been spent entirely within the independent school sector, reflecting a steadfast belief in the importance of parental choice and educational diversity. This conviction has shaped her professional journey and leadership philosophy.
Ascending to school leadership at a notably young age, Gamble quickly recognised the broader positive impact she could have on students, families and communities. For her, leadership is not about personal accolades but about service – her measure of success lies in leaving schools more refreshed, visionary and sustainable than when she arrived.
“Being a principal is a great honour, but it is also an all-encompassing role,” she explains. “There are never enough hours in the day, especially when you strive to be a visible and present leader in your community. I manage this by protecting my sense of balance and wellness.”
