Marsden Park Anglican College adheres to a mantra that has shaped its identity and success since opening in 2024: “playful but professional.” More than a catchphrase, it reflects the College’s unique culture – one that embraces joy in learning and teaching while holding fast to high standards and purpose. It’s a place where both students and staff are encouraged to be curious, creative and ambitious.
Since its establishment, Marsden Park has engaged in continuous growth, with parents recognising the educational opportunities available and educators understanding the supportive professional environment the College can offer. Enrolment has jumped from 390 to 790 students in the last two years, exemplifying the College’s determination for sustainable growth.
But with expansion comes recruitment. To keep up with student enrolment, Marsden Park has hired around 20 teachers a year, a trend that will continue as the College expects to increase enrolment to 1,400 by 2029.
For principal Darren Cox, this onboarding success demonstrates Marsden Park’s excellent work culture, particularly given the context of a national teacher shortage. The College is looking to further support its workforce by boosting administrative support to reduce teacher workload and increasing workplace flexibility.
“At MPAC, we don’t just hire staff – we empower them. This belief underpins our reputation as a dynamic, values-driven workplace where people grow, lead and flourish together,” Cox says. “We are recognised as a school where people genuinely want to work. Our most recent staff survey reported 93% positive engagement and satisfaction. This reflects a workplace where collaboration, innovation and professional growth thrive.”
Staff training has been a key contributor to the success of Marsden Park, with teachers engaging in Clifton Strengths coaching and Crucial Conversations training. Nurturing strengths for Marsden Park’s staff allows for continual personal development along with a collaborative work environment. Teachers are encouraged to think outside the box and get creative in their classrooms.
“Staff are actively encouraged to discover, understand and lead from their unique strengths, both individually and collaboratively, through ongoing coaching sessions and targeted professional learning,” Cox says. “Empowering staff to operate from their strengths has significantly enhanced wellbeing, deepened collaboration and strengthened professional purpose.”
To get the best out of its staff, Marsden Park places a large emphasis on the mentorship and leadership of educators. Along with training courses, regular social events bolster the staff’s feeling of a supportive community that strives to see individuals grow.
Staying true to its Christian guidelines is crucial for Marsden Park, where prospective employees can expect a faith-based community that prioritises the wellbeing of each individual educator. This dedication to faith also guides Marsden Park’s diversity, equity and inclusion policies, guidelines the College implements for a welcoming community for individuals of all backgrounds.
“As a Christ-centred community, our mission is deeply shaped by the life and teachings of Jesus, guiding how we lead, relate and serve others,” Cox says. “As a College, we are wholeheartedly committed to cultivating a workplace culture grounded in respect, belonging and integrity – core values aligned with our Christian ethos.”
The College’s leadership has curated an initiative called The MPAC Way. This approaches education with a view to creating “treasure hunts” for teachers and students to explore their strengths while growing personally.
Keeping curiosity and growth central to the student and teacher experience has been central to Marsden Park’s mission as an institution, and it is one that will remain at its core as it continues to grow.
“We continue to see cyber as a key opportunity and will be further developing customer-centric solutions across various geographies and segments in line with our growth aspirations”
