An author and a former teacher, Jen believes literacy has a powerful impact on people’s lives. After presenting to aspiring authors internationally, she realised the concepts she was teaching adults worked perfectly for kids, so she used her background as a secondary school teacher to create a simple and effective framework for teaching writing.
She was a Churchill Fellow and Telstra Business Women’s Awards finalist, and was featured on The Educator Hot List for five years running. She has recently been named one of The Educator’s Most Influential Educators in 2022. In her downtime, she’s hiked the Grand Canyon, skied glaciers and won gold in beach volleyball.

Kathleen joined Seven Steps in 2015 and oversees the business and operational aspects of the company, as well as the Training team in developing and delivering all elements of Seven Steps training. Born and raised in San Francisco, she studied Psychology and Business at Santa Clara University. Before joining Seven Steps, Kathleen worked in marketing communications in a range of companies in the US, Ireland and Australia. She is passionate about making a difference in literacy education, and loves working with the fabulous team at Seven Steps and the amazing schools and teachers in Australia.

Sarah heads up the Teacher Resources team in developing and managing all aspects of the Seven Steps print and digital resource suite. She studied English and History at Edinburgh University, and then obtained an MSc in Publishing from Napier University. After 10 years in educational publishing and a move Down Under, she retrained as a primary teacher at La Trobe University and put her knowledge of educational resources into practice.
Since joining the Seven Steps team in 2015, Sarah has used her background in both teaching and resource development to create innovative and engaging learning experiences for teachers and students.

Hannah manages the training content at Seven Steps, developing high-quality professional learning experiences for teachers in Australia and beyond. She has been a teacher, international language school manager and literacy consultant, and has worked in advisory roles in many diverse school and educational settings in Australia, Germany and the UK. Hannah has supported and mentored teachers at all levels, identifying needs and devising and running training programs and workshops. She loves all things related to words and language, and brings her pedantic passion and Welsh wit to the Seven Steps team and the wider teaching community.

Saangpi leads the Marketing team in promoting Seven Steps’ training and resources, as well as providing support and expert insights on writing and teaching to the education community. He studied Business (Marketing) and Sport and Recreation Management at Victoria University, followed by a graduate diploma in Community Development. Saangpi worked in various marketing roles in the service provider industries before joining Seven Steps in 2017. He is passionate about creating an enjoyable user experience and supporting educators and the Seven Steps community as they transform writing in schools and classrooms.

Winner of the title 2022 Primary Publisher of the Year, Seven Steps to Writing Success has trained more than 45,000 teachers from over 4,750 schools, making it the largest literacy training program in Australia. Over two million young Australians have been taught the Seven Steps approach.
Designed by award-winning author and former teacher Jen McVeity, the Seven Steps program aims to transform writing for life. It is an explicit approach to teaching that breaks down writing into seven core techniques used by professional authors. The simple and flexible framework empowers educators and nurtures confidence, collaboration and passionate communicators. Seven Steps works closely with schools and teachers by providing engaging training and high-quality resources to help transform student writing.
The much-loved Seven Steps workshops are interactive, fun, and presented by experienced educators with a wealth of classroom knowledge. For the classroom, teachers have a suite of award-winning digital and printed teaching resources. The online platform, Teacher Hub, has over 18,500 members. It was Highly Commended at the Educational Publishing Awards 2022. In addition, the Seven Steps writing manuals have been designed by educators to support teachers with step-by-step guides to transform students’ narrative, persuasive and informative writing skills.
