How Apple managed device programs deliver a consistent digital environment
IN Partnership with
Empower every learner with a consistent, secure, and seamless Apple experience
More
WHEN EVERY student and teacher is equipped with an Apple device supplied and managed by their school, the impact goes far beyond hardware, delivering consistent learning experiences, simplified IT management and improved online safety.
Classroom technology can become complex for teachers to run and IT teams to oversee when devices are not managed, forcing both to juggle multiple platforms. Unmanaged device programs may result in fragmented digital environments, leading to disparities in capabilities, access and engagement in the classroom.
“We know it creates complexity and increases teachers’ frustration,” says Miriam Torres, national Apple sales manager at JB Hi-Fi Education.
Moving to a 1:1 managed Apple program – where every student and teacher receives an iPad or MacBook through their school – unlocks seamless management of a school’s Apple fleet and ensures a consistent and reliable learning environment.
JB Hi-Fi Education is dedicated to helping educators and students thrive by providing technology solutions and devices that support innovative learning environments. To support education institutions, the company has invested in nationwide reach and fulfilment backed by hundreds of retail stores, a dedicated team of education specialists and strong partnerships with leading global brands. More than a technology provider, JB Hi-Fi Education supports schools throughout their device life-cycle journey –from device procurement and deployment to management, professional learning and ongoing tech care, helping them get the most from their investment in technology.

“One of the main objectives for adopting a managed Apple program is to offer tech equity across the whole campus”
Miriam Torres,
JB Hi-Fi Education
“From conversations that I had with school leaders, one of the main objectives for adopting a managed Apple program is to offer tech equity across the whole campus,” Torres explains. “Every student and teacher has access to devices from the same ecosystem, with the same tools and apps, sharing the same digital experience which is driving the shift to these programs for practical and strategic reasons.”
The result is a shared digital experience that benefits both students and educators. Lessons can be designed for a
single platform and personalised, and students are no longer disadvantaged by the capabilities of the device they bring to class.
That level of consistency is a significant and long-term benefit: Apple’s ecosystem supports continuity over time, following students throughout their school journey. In the early school years students can start with an iPad, then transition to macOS as they progress throughout their schooling. No matter which device they graduate to each year, “they’re staying within a familiar environment, so learning remains uninterrupted”, Torres says.
Better learning with Apple
Apple creates products designed to inspire educators and students and offers features that make collaboration and classroom management simpler.
“iPad is a versatile device that empowers students to learn in ways that work best for them – it can be used as a notepad, sketchbook, camera, production studio and more,” Torres says.
"Mac delivers powerful performance to handle any project, no matter how complex. With up to 18 hours of battery life,* it helps keep students and educators productive and connected wherever they are.”
Torres explains that “on both iPad and MacBook, built-in features such as Airdrop allow students and teachers to share content and tasks easily, creating seamless collaboration”, adding that Apple offers a range of useful apps for teaching, such as Apple Classroom and Classwork.
“These apps are powerful. They’re built to support teachers in organising and managing classes, courses, assignments and tracking students’ progress.”
Online safety is an integral part of that picture. IT teams have more control over what’s running on students’ devices, supporting them to maintain a safe digital environment. They can configure the devices to enforce screentime limits, block some app installations and restrict access to certain websites.
Easing IT pressure with simple, scalable Apple deployment
One of the strongest benefits of running a managed device program with Apple lies in the simplicity of its deployment and management.
Using Apple School Manager, devices can be enrolled with ease, so students and teachers can hit the ground running before their devices reach the classroom. And when paired with a managed-device solution, IT teams can configure all settings and security measures, install apps and push updates remotely through a zero-touch approach.
The end result?
“Schools of all sizes, even small institutions, can confidently establish and run a managed Apple program,” Torres says.
Building a sustainable managed Apple program withJB Hi-Fi Education
In addition to the benefits of a 1:1 Apple program, adding support and services from education experts enables schools to launch and maintain a program that works over the long term.
Torres explains that JB Hi-Fi Education supports schools across the entire device lifecycle. “Our financing options help schools spread costs across budget cycles, turning large capital expenses into manageable operational payments,” she says.
“This predictability extends through deployment – devices arrive staged, kitted and ready for students on Day 1.”
“Schools of all sizes, even small institutions, can confidently establish and run a managed Apple program”
For ongoing management, JB Hi-Fi Education partners with Mobilise IT to help schools confidently run large-scale Apple fleets. When devices break, Tech Care+, an optional device protection plan, provides any-reason coverage** and fast repairs.
To support device adoption, JB Hi-Fi Education delivers professional development training by authorised Apple Professional Learning Specialists from Using Technology Better.
“Technology investment in Apple devices means nothing if teachers, school leaders and IT [teams] don't use it effectively,” Torres points out. “We help educators unlock creativity in the classroom and demonstrate clear value to the school community.”
Finally, when devices age and are no longer usable, the support doesn’t simply stop. That's where JB Hi-Fi Education makes a difference with its holistic lifecycle approach. Through the company's Buyback program, schools may recover value from older devices while ensuring responsible disposal of e-waste and certified data erasure, turning retired assets into potential funding for the next refresh cycle.
Not just a technology choice but a strategic one
“When you connect all these pieces together, you create a self-sustaining system: predictable costs, minimal IT burden, high teacher adoption, protected devices, a consistent learning environment, and end-of-life solutions to close the loop,” Torres sums up. “That's how schools run Apple programs successfully long term.”
For schools considering their next move in digital learning, the case for a fully managed Apple program is compelling. With expert support, they can run a seamless technology program allowing them to focus on teaching and learning.
